Tradition says the Binga Baskets were originally used by the BaTonga people located in Zimbabwe's Binga Area for winnowing grains. Like many trades, this style of basket also grew in popularity and traveled to Malawi.
These baskets are carefully handcrafted using natural and locally harvested materials such as wild grasses, small vines, and palm leaves. Each basket is unique and showcases a craft perfected from generation to generation. These baskets are handmade and do vary in pattern, and size and no two are exactly alike. We consider this part of their beauty and hope you do as well.
You can hang these baskets as wall art or use them for serving bread. The possibilities are endless with these beautiful baskets.
When caring for your basket wipe with a damp cloth where necessary. Do not expose baskets to direct sunlight. Baskets should be kept away from damp places or where they can easily get wet.
* Please note: We will ship a variety of baskets to give you a unique collection.
