Hello!

A big warm hello to all of you!
My name is Sheila and I'm the dreamer behind Commonality Co-op.

Commonality Co-op is about daring to create unique communities, encouraging dreams, learning about others and ourselves through our art and our story.
In my Junior year of high school I spent my summer working with autistic children thinking about a career in Art Therapy.  Honestly, I feel like I have reimagined my love for Art Therapy into the work I do today, translating it into the desire wholeness, sustainability, and job creation for others.

After living and working in Haiti, traveling and working with women in developing countries, eventually returning to the States, to work again with another group of women coming out of difficult situations, I found a "commonality" if you will, a common thread.
It's not so complicated in and of itself really, yet there seem to be common layers and steps that need to be taken in order to bring change.
The unraveling of the thread needed to be addressed. I decided to go for it. I loved women and children, I loved textiles and art, and solutions. Problem-solving wouldn't always be easy, but finding the things we had in common helped build the road out of the places we tend to get stuck.
For me, what I do is so much more than just a job, it's something I picture
myself doing for years to come because it allows me to be creative, create community, and teach others the tools for wholeness. I honestly couldn't imagine doing anything else.
I'm also a wife, a mom, and now a grandma. I am obsessed with Sunday suppers together with my family, learning + reading in my free time.

I'd love to get to know you a little better, comment below and come say hello
and tell me where you're from, it's always so much fun to see where everyone is.
Together in the story,
Sheila
